Museum August 5th benefit gala: An Evening Under the Stars

You are cordially invited to attend AN EVENING UNDER THE STARS to be held at the Museum on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 5:00-7:00pm.

We are pleased to announce that internationally known sculptor and painter Anne Mimi Sammis of Narragansett, RI has been named Horary Chairperson of the event.  The event benefits the museum’s art and education programs and on-going preservation projects. A collection of Ms. Sammis’ bronze sculpture will also be on exhibit at the Gilbert Stuart Museum gallery through September 12, 2016. The show, Sculpting Peace will feature important works from throughout Ms. Sammis’ career as an artist and peace worker. Locally, Ms. Sammis is well known for her twenty- one-foot tall sculpture Dance of Peace on Narragansett Town Beach. Internationally, the artist is well known for her two solo shows at the United Nations and for the sculpture He Has the Whole World in His Hands that was commissioned for the celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 and is on permanent display at Lambeth Palace in London, England. Anne Mimi Sammis will conduct a demonstration of how she creates her sculpture during An Evening Under the Stars.
